The Role of Garlic in Decreasing Cardiovascular Disease Risk

Name:
Madison Krehbiel

Department:
Nutritional Sciences

Abstract:
This poster will primarily discuss the effects of certain garlic compounds on the expression of genes involved in cholesterol metabolism and reverse cholesterol transport. We are looking at the role of these compounds acting as histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACi) in regulating gene expression to provide cardiovascular benefits. The purpose and implications of the current study will be explained. Previous studies may be mentioned for further explanation. Methods of research and the results will be depicted through graphs and charts.
