Impact of dispersion techniques on the mechanical properties of graphene nanoplatelet--epoxy nanocomposites

Abstract:
Graphene nanoplatelets (GnPs) are widely used as filler materials in epoxy resin for enhancing mechanical and physical properties of nanocomposites. The reasons behind selecting these fillers are their superior mechanical, electrical and thermal properties. These GnPs, however, tend to form agglomerates at low loading and these agglomerates become the critical site of failure. In this study we have investigated the dispersion and interaction of GnPs in epoxy resin.
