Do Gender Difference and Culture Exacerbate or Mitigate Benign Envy?
his study examined whether gender difference and whether culture difference interfere with participants’ benign envy. The experiment used a 2 (gender difference type: envious individuals and envy targets are of the same sex/envious individuals and envy targets are of the opposite sex) X 2 (culture type: United States/Singapore) factorial design. Study found a significant main effect for gender difference but not for culture, and there’s no significant interaction. Overall, when participant’s gender is opposite to his/her envy target, they have more benign envy compare with participant’s gender is the same as his/her envy target.
